about us

Who We Are

Who we are

We are undeserving sinners who have been saved by grace through faith.  We have been saved by placing our faith in Jesus Christ alone for our salvation and have publicly declared that faith by following our Lord’s command to be baptized.  It is our desire to learn from God’s Word (the Bible), to grow in our relationship with Jesus Christ, and to tell others about our wonderful Savior so that they may have a relationship with Jesus Christ and eternal life.  For where would we be if someone hadn’t shared the Good News of Jesus Christ with us?

We want everyone to feel free to join us.  Although we are a smaller congregation, we have an abundance of friendly, caring people.  If you visit, you will experience our warm welcome firsthand.

We invite you to learn of the Savior, to follow Him, and come worship with us!

mission statement

Our mission at Fellowship Baptist Church is to glorify God through evangelism, discipleship, and fellowship

Glorify God

As followers of Jesus Christ, our goal should be to bring glory to Him in everything we do. Creation is for the glory of God (Psalm 19). Redemption is for the glory of God (Ephesians 1). All that we do is for the glory of God (1 Corinthians 10:31). He must increase, we must decrease. In life or in death, Christ must be magnified – publicaly and privately; corporately and individually. Everything that we do and say should be to bring glory to God (1 Corinthians 10:31; Ephesians 3:20-21; John 15:8; 2 Peter 3:18

Evangelism

Sharing the Gospel, or good news, of Jesus Christ and what He has done. We are motivated by the seriousness of the great commission and understand that those who do not know Jesus personally do not have eternal life. We recognize that God has given us the privilege of sharing this life-changing message in a kind and loving way to all who will listen. We believe that we should consistently look for opportunities to share the gospel as individuals and as a church family (Romans 1:16; Psalm 105:1; 2 Corinthians 5:20).

Discipleship

Teaching believers to obediently follow the Savior and to live their lives for Him.  Jesus Christ modeled how to make disciples in His earthly ministry with the 12 disciples in the Gospels.  He taught them what they needed to know and then sent them out to repeat the process and as a result the world was quickly, and drastically changed.  We are committed to intentional discipleship of God’s people for those who are willing.  Our goal is that each person would become a mature disciple that produces other disciples through evangelism and discipleship (Matthew 28:19-20; Colossians 1:28-29; 2 Timothy 2:15).

Fellowship

Worshiping together, growing together, and encouraging one another in our faith.  We exist to love and serve one another as the followers of Christ so that we actively contribute to the spiritual maturation of the church for which Jesus died.  We are committed to healthy, authentic relationships with each other and with the people God adds to our church family.  We believe that as Jesus Christ is the Head, the local church is the Body of Christ, and that believers should commit to and participate in the “one another” commands of the New Testament, and thus grow in Christ-likeness. (1 John 1:7; 1 Thessalonians 5:11; Hebrews 10:25; Acts 2:42; Colossians 3:16).

We Preach and Teach the Bible

God has greatly blessed humanity by revealing Himself in Scripture.  Because of that, we value Scripture highly and realize its importance and therefore you will find the Bible at the center of what we do.   Most preaching is expository preaching as we work through individual books of the Bible in sermon series.  Expository preaching is the communication of a biblical concept that comes from a section of Scripture, where the preacher “exposes” that text by first laying bare the meaning and then applying the text to contemporary life.  We want to know what the text says and then apply that to our lives in a way that we grow and are changed.  We have Sunday School classes for all ages and the Bible is at the center of those classes so that we can learn and grow.

We Worship Though Song

Our singing is for God’s glory, not ours.  In our music we want to worship and exalt the Lord, so our music is focused on Him and His greatness.

We Point People to God

Our desire is to help people in their relationship to God and we do that by directing people to Him.  God is the answer and has the answer for our lives.
